Women for Afghanistan
(WFA) is a nonprofit organization based in Geneva that operates under Swiss law. Established with an unwavering commitment to the Afghan people, particularly women.
WFA Vision & Mission
We promote spaces of dialogue and collaboration to make possible a society where Afghan women are empowered to lead, with equal opportunities, just ice,and representation in all aspects of life, fostering peace, sustainable development, and a prosperous future for all. WFA collaborates with the UN, EU and its Member States, Women and Men from Afghanistan and in exile to create a platform for dialogue. The organization strives to promote peace, dialogue, democracy and a genuine understanding of women's rights and their situation.
- Build a Coalition and Unite Afghan women through dialogues, summits, and platforms, empowering them to become effective leaders and decision-makers.
- We aim to promote conflict resolution, education, and collaboration among civil society organizations, NGO’s, women and men in Afghanistan and in exile.
- We strive to raise awareness about global and civic issues and advocate for women’s rights, democracy, and peace, with a strong emphasis on addressing the unique needs of Afghan women.
Message from our President
It’s an honor to lead Women for Afghanistan (WFA) during such a critical time. WFA is a platform for Afghan women to unite, speak out, and reclaim their rights in the face of ongoing suppression. Despite the challenges, Afghan women continue to show incredible courage and resilience. Together, we can amplify their voices, foster leadership, and work toward a more just and peaceful future.

MEET OUR BOARD
Kathleen Holmlund is the Managing Director at Giving Women, an association based in Geneva.
Iris Bjorg Kristjansdottir is currently a Director of the International Division with the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police.
Katharina Samara-Wickrama is an international gender justice expert and co-founder of the Helia Collaborative in Geneva.
Lisa Curtis is Director of the Indo-Pacific Security Program at the Center for a New American Security & foreign policy expert.
Dr. Homaira Rahimi, Vice President of WFA, International Affairs Specialist in the field of international cooperation.
