Spain’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said on Friday in Madrid that Spain remains committed to Afghan women and will not recognize the Taliban as long as they remain in power. He stressed that Taliban crimes must be investigated and that accountability is essential. Albares said lasting peace is impossible without the participation of Afghan women, noting that the human rights crisis has deepened and that around 18 million women have been excluded from public life.
